Isaac, it is indeed bad if the skin color goes from green to brown to black. It is a sign that requires attention. The environment may be off, check to make sure you have a proper basking light, temperature and humidity are correct and your Iguana has the proper diet. Color may change if there is another male or a dominant female in the enclosure. The Iguana that undergoes the color change is the subordinate and should be separated. If none of these conditions affect your Iguana it could be due to a syndrome that affects Iguanas. I recommend changing the substrate, sanitizing all the decor in a 10% bleach to water solution and remove cage mates. If the Iguana does not resemble a healthy green color, seek an experienced exotic veterinarian.

I just got a baby green iguana and i was wondering if they were tough. he just keeps jumping off of everything, and im afraid he'll get hurt. Also, i was wondering if it is normal to see their ribs when they are young.
THX.

No! They are solitary animals. Big one will either pick on or eat the smaller one. Also u should qyuarrantine anything new to ensure it doesn't transmit anyything harmful to the one you have. Keep em apart.
